John McGillicuddy Harkins

LITCHFIELD – John McGillicuddy Harkins, 70, of Litchfield, died Monday Sept. 19, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston, Maine on Feb. 27, 1952, the son of Michael J. Harkins, MD. and Helen (McGillicuddy) Harkins.

John has always had a love of cars and motorcycles. He attended the CMVTI automotive program and upon graduating was employed by Giant Advance in Auburn for many years. From there, John began a long career with LL Bean as a heavy equipment operator and auditor until retirement.

He also had a deep love for all dogs, especially his beloved Nina. And he enjoyed spending time outside with his fruit trees and garden.

John and his fun loving and caring nature was a gift to all of us. He is deeply missed and will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen; sister, Margaret Ellen Harkins; and sister, Helen Mary Jennings.

John is survived by his brother, Michael J. Harkins, Jr.; sister, Nance Harkins; niece, Kathleen Harkins; nephew Michael J. Harkins III; nephew Gabriel Jennings; and great nephew, Michael J. Harkins IV.

Visiting hours will be held at Staples Funeral Home, on Tuesday, October 4, from 10 a.m. – noontime, followed by a memorial service at noontime, and a committal service will be at 2 p.m., at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Lewiston.
