Rita M. Laliberte

AUGUSTA – Rita M. Laliberte, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at the Alzheimer’s Care Center in Gardiner, following a long illness. She was born in Augusta, on June 13, 1928 a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Cloutier) Gabourie.

Mrs. Laliberte attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She had been employed by MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Grey Birch for several years and was previously employed by Taylor Shoe Company.

Mrs. Laliberte was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Armand Laliberte; her two brothers: Gerard Gaboury and Edward Gabourie and her five sisters: Blandine Gerrier, Gabrielle Poulin, Rolande Mathieu, Marguerite O’Brien and Jean Schricker.

Mrs. Laliberte is survived by many nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gaboury.

The family would like to thank Jackie Penney and Anne Poulin for taking such good care of their aunt for the past three years.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
