Avis B. (Stone) Foss
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Avis B. (Stone) Foss, 95, formerly of Waterville, and most recently of Manchester, N.H., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022.
A life resident of Maine, Avis relocated to be in the loving care of her great-niece, Karen “KJ”.
She was a graduate of Cony High School and Gates Business College and retired from Central Maine Power as a payroll clerk in the accounting department. Her meticulous attention to detail was prevalent in every aspect of her life.
Avis lived life to its fullest, and participated in many activities, from being a member of a roller skating club, singing with the choral group, Lamp Lighters, and buying and selling real estate. Spending time outdoors was where you would find Avis whether it was hunting, fishing, camping or taking a long walk.
She will be remembered for her quick wit, being the life of the party, the enjoyment of cooking and feasting with family and friends, but most importantly, her love of family.
Avis was predeceased by her husband, Carl, the truest love of her life; her brothers Albert and Robert Stone; and her parents Arthur and Dorothy Stone.
She is survived by her niece, Evelyn (Allan) Glines; great-nieces, Lynn-Ann (Michael) Parsons, Karen “KJ” (Jim) Gagnon and Donna (Dominick Perretta) Whitbeck; and a cousin, Patricia Jordan.
A time of gathering to honor and remember Avis and enjoy some of her favorite foods will be held, Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Airport Diner on 2280 Brown Ave. Manchester, NH 03103.
