AUGUSTA — Calloway Coffeehouse is scheduled to host a fundraising event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Cony High School, 60 Pierce Drive.
The fundraiser is for domestic violence prevention in memory of Chellie Calloway. Calloway died in 2004 after being fatally shot by her husband.
Since then, the Cony Key Club, music, and art departments have partnered with the Family Violence Project to host this event, which will include numerous musical performances and student artwork displays as well as a vigil before the event.
This year Nancy Provost will represent the Family Violence Project. She will have a booth set up for information about domestic abuse prevention, and will have stories of domestic violence victims as part of the Silent Witness Project.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
