William “Bill” Del Thomas

SARASOTA, Fla. – William Del Thomas, 77, of Sarasota, Fla., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 25, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. His wife and son were at his side. His daughter was unable to arrive in time.

Bill was born in Springfield, Mass. on Sept. 18, 1945 to Christopher and Ruth Sudsbury Thomas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968, when he was combat wounded in the Tet Offensive, Vietnam, and medically retired.

Having many interests, Bill enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, restoring distressed properties, completing home improvements, and spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy R. Austin; two children, Serenity D. Cunningham of Henderson, Nev., and Gabriel W. D. Austin of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Cynthia of New York, Erlene of South Carolina, and Kirstine of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Colonial Oaks Baptist Church in Sarasota, Fla., where Bill was a member since 2016.
