Virginia Bates Caron

WATERVILLE – Virginia Bates Caron, 91, passed away on Oct. 23, 2022, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville.

Ginny was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on May 10, 1931, to Fernald and Edna Bates.

Ginny was a proud career Registered Nurse. She graduated from Sisters’ School of Nursing. She started her career at Sisters’ Hospital in Waterville, Maine, which then became Seton Hospital and later Mid Maine General Medical at both Thayer and Seton Hospitals. She was also a Director of Nursing at Charles A. Dean Memorial in Greenville, Maine. After leaving Charles A. Dean, she returned to work in Waterville for Mount Saint Joseph’s and retired shortly after that tenure.

She lived in Waterville for most of her blessed life. However, when she was working in Greenville, she lived in Rockwood, Maine at their family camp with her husband, Joel Caron.

She thoroughly enjoyed being in the great outdoors at Moosehead Lake and spending quality time with her children and husband while also entertaining many friends and relatives along with other camping excursions. She especially loved boating, fishing, dancing and listening to music.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joel Caron, her parents, her son in law, Bob Geiger, and grandson, Joel Bart Geiger.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Debra Geiger, Joel Caron and his wife Linda, David Caron and his wife Pat, Cathy Caron, and Brian Caron and his partner Diane White.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Lamoreau (Len), Sarah Dunton (Frank), Josh Geiger (Robin), Jason Caron, Crystal Gordon (Garrett), Adam Caron (Natalia), Magyn Reed (David). She is also survived by 11 great-grandkids and her cousin, Judy Gould, who was more like a sister to her.

The family would like to thank Oak Grove Center and Beacon Hospice for her provided care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 4, 2022 from 11 am to 2 pm at the VFW, 51 Water St., Waterville and a private graveside service will be held at The Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
