AUGUSTA — Two people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries Wednesday morning following a four-vehicle crash on Memorial Bridge in Augusta.

The crash occurred at 7:47 a.m. on the bridge’s westbound lane, backing up traffic until about 8:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Chris Blodgett of the Augusta Police Department.
Blodgett said the first vehicle involved in the crash had slowed in traffic, after which the fourth vehicle hit the back of the third vehicle, pushing all four automobiles together. At least two of the vehicles appeared badly damaged at the scene.
The two people who were injured had been in different vehicles, and were taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
Augusta police and the Augusta Fire Department responded to the crash, and were at the scene until about 8:30 a.m.
