Estelle St. Michel

AUGUSTA – Estelle St. Michel, 88, of Augusta, died peacefully Monday, October 31, 2022 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and LTC at Glenridge in Augusta with family by her side.

She was born in Augusta, on December 8, 1933, the daughter of Paul Gagne and Diana (Jacques) Gagne.

Estelle graduated from St. Augustine School and attended Cony High School. She married Donald (Pete) St. Michel on April 21, 1952.

Estelle was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower gardens, and traveling with friends across the United States and Canada. She had a knack for interior design and shopping. She also had the gift of gab…and did we mention she loved shopping?

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church choir in Brunswick for several years.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Donald (Pete) St. Michel, and a sister, Carlene Day.

Survivors include three sons: Robert (Theresa) Gagne of Saco, Peter (Sandra) St. Michel of Chelsea, Gary (Melanie) St. Michel of Winthrop, two daughters Donna Lee White of Augusta and Gail (James) McNew of Canyon Lake, Texas, one sister Patricia (Maurice) Pelletier of Augusta, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.

Estelle’s family would like to thank the staff at Glenridge, and Alex the hospice nurse, for the kindness and care of our popular Mom. Thank you all for doing what you do!
