WEST GARDINER – Janice Shepard died on Sunday Nov. 6, 2022, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in West Gardiner.

Janice was born on April 25, 1924, to Fred and Florence (Brown) Hinkley. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1942.

She lived most of her life in Randolph, after the death of her husband she moved to Hallowell and the past few years she lived in West Gardiner.

She worked several years at Gosline-Murchie Insurance Agency then she and her husband opened Shepard’s Auto Parts in Gardiner where she worked as the bookkeeper.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Wallace Shepard Jr., son Keith R. Shepard, sisters Helen Whissle and Rachel Ladner and niece Karen Ladner.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law Michael and Cherry Shepard of West Gardiner, grandchildren and great grandchildren Patrick Shepard and companion Corrina in Sidney, Kate Trask and husband Gary and children Brittney Wilmot and Abigail Trask in Pittston, Jessica Folsom and husband Dan and children Samantha, Ellie, Izzy, and Grace in Winthrop, Amy Cobb Smith and companion Pete and children Nathan and Devin in Scarborough. Jeff Cobb and companion Khaliah in Atlanta, and Sally Shepard and her children.

At her request there will be no funeral or visiting hours, there will be a burial service on Monday, November 14, at 1 p.m., at the OLD Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of the hospice, especially CNA Emily Vigue, for all their support.
