Rose I. Keller
AUGUSTA – Rose I. Keller, 87, of Augusta, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. She was born in Randolph, Maine, on Feb. 1, 1935. She was the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Babbs) Seigars.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Ruby and Margret, and her husband Kerwin Keller. Rose is survived by her brother James Seigars and his wife Belinda, her niece Sandy Pinard and her husband Thomas, Lynn Reinsch and her husband Mark, Robert “Bobby” Willey and partner Missy Rivard, and her stepchildren Shawn, Adam, and Keith. Along with many great nieces and nephews.
Rose graduated high school in the class of 1954 in Randolph, Maine. She went on to become a telephone operator for Bell Systems. Then went on to become one of the first Women in the Augusta Police Department. She bravely served the town of Augusta for 25 years. Once she retired from the police force she became a crossing guard for the town of Augusta.
Her biggest thrill in life was when she was asked to guard Elvis Presley at the Augusta Civic Center. Rose then received his scarf as a gift. She truly loved going to the casino and out to dinner with her loving husband Kerwin, up until he passed 9 years ago in November of 2013. Rose’s life revolved around her cat Muffy and her dog Tammy. She had lots of jewelry which she truly cherished. She adored her great great niece Madison Rose which was named after her, she requested that Madison would receive one of her favorite pieces.
Rose had a wonderful sense of humor and loved seeing all the children at her nieces Sandy and Tom’s daycare in Sabattus. She was a simple soul and loved to make people laugh. Some would call her a “fire-cracker”. She never failed to touch the hearts of everyone she came into contact with. She had a way about her that could always bring a smile to your face and she welcomed every soul that she met.
An intimate graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 at 1 p.m., at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, located at 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
