ANSON – It is with great sadness to announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, Janet, Mom, Gram passed away in the early morning of Nov. 9, 2022, in her sleep at the home of her son David, and his wife Mary on Hilton Hill.
Janet was born on July 19, 1925 in a big house on Hilton Hill Road in Anson. She attended elementary school in Anson, and graduated from Madison High school in 1943 at the age of 17. That same year, she married Hurley Fletcher in November. Together they raised nine children. Through her many heartbreaks in the 97 years of life, her biggest joy was raising her children.
She was predeceased by her husband Hurley C. Fletcher, both of her parents, Christopher C. Hilton and Agnes (Smith) Hilton. Also four of her children, Gary, Linda, Joan, and Larry.
Janet is survived by five of her children and spouses, Diane (Fletcher) Oliver and husband Virgil of Madison, Sandra (Fletcher) Weese and husband Gary of Smithfield, Betty (Fletcher) Burpee and husband Jon of Industry, Dennis Fletcher and wife Linda of Anson, and David Fletcher and wife Mary of Anson. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
In honoring Janet’s wishes, there will be no services. A graveside gathering will be held in the Spring.
