WATERVILLE — The Alfond Youth & Community Center and JMG are planning to host a College & Career Fair on Thursday, Dec. 1, for high school students and community members. The event will be held at the center at 126 North St., and the fair will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students and 2-4 p.m. for community members.
Event organizers have curated a wide range of represented careers, including law enforcement, education, post-secondary education, manufacturing, military, healthcare, social work, recreation, and more. More than 50 businesses, colleges, and groups are slated to attend, and students will be provided passports with questions prompts to assist in learning about the limitless career options available to them, according to a news release from Avery Ryan, Teen Program coordinator.
After multiple years of difficulty getting together for events like this, the coordinators are excited to bring all of the groups together to support high school students in starting their career exploration journey.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
