Virginia I. (Dudley) Cloutier

WINTHROP – Virginia I. (Dudley) Cloutier, 92, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at the Androscoggin Hospice House following a brief illness. She is the wife of the late George O. Cloutier with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Virginia was born July 7, 1930, in Augusta. She is the daughter of the late Eden and Gertie (Smith) Dudley. She was a graduate of Cony High School Class of 1948.

Virginia worked National Filter Media as a belt stitcher for many years until her retirement at the age of 76. She previously worked at Statler Tissue as a receptionist.

Virginia was a simple woman who treasured her family. She was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed raising her family.

She is survived by her children George Cloutier and his wife Teresa of Lewiston, Cathy Busque of Augusta, Paula Sonier of Winthrop and Susan Smith and her husband Gary of Monmouth. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving child of the 13 Dudley children. She was also predeceased by her daughter April Cloutier, her sons-in-laws Richard Busque and Terry Sounier.

Virginia’s graveside service will be on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Hope Cemetery Winthrop Street, Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
