Ralph Allen Prescott

WEST GARDINER – Ralph Allen Prescott, born Oct. 21, 1939, in Concord, N.H., left us in the early morning hours of Nov. 22, 2022.

Ralph was a veteran, a commercial pilot, a Maine Guide, and he loved working with beagles. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 when he was 17, and he was a flight engineer on P2V Neptune and P-3 Orion sub-hunters for the next 20 years. Ralph’s many deployments took him all over the world, from Japan to Hawaii, from Maine to Iceland, and from Norway to the Azores. He became a commercial pilot, and after he retired from the Navy in 1976, the Prescotts moved from Brunswick to Vermont, where he flew first for Precision Airlines out of Springfield and then for Northern Airways out of Burlington, and then continued to fly out of Sanford, Maine.

Always at home in the woods, he retired from flying and became a Maine Guide. Ralph hunted and fished across the country, hunting whitetails and moose here in Maine and antelope and mule deer out west, and fishing for halibut in Alaska and steelhead trout in British Columbia. He combined his military service with his guide work and hosted a number of hunting trips for veterans at his camp in Garland.

Ralph is survived by Maureen Prescott; their son Jody, daughter-in-law Brenda-Lee, and granddaughters Eliza and Hannah; their son Scot; and his sister Sandra, his brother Joseph, and their families.

As Ralph wished, there will be no services.

Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home in Winthrop, and memories and photos may be shared with the family at http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
