Richard E. Bodge
FARMINGDALE – Richard E. Bodge, 79, of Farmingdale, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.
He was born in Gardiner, Maine on October 18, 1943, the son of Elwyn and Marjorie (Hall) Bodge.
Richard grew up in the Pittston area and went to the Gardiner area schools and married Diane Staples on November 9, 1962. He spent several years working at Gardiner Shoe and then later moved on to work for Williams Construction in Gardiner driving trucks and heavy equipment where he remained until he retired at 62.
Richard loved hunting, fishing, making ties for fly fishing and putting together models and spending time in The Forks with family and friends. He became a ham operator in 2004 where he enjoyed talking with his friends and other ham operators all over the world.
Richard touched many lives and was always eager to lend a helping hand and loved to help others learn to hunt and fish and had countless stories on his adventures of hunting and fishing. His sense of humor and kindness will be forever remembered.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Diane (Staples) Bodge.
Richard is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth and husband Aaron, Sherri and husband Pete, Sandra and husband Leroy, Penny. 13 grandchildren, Jason and wife Samantha, Ryan, Carrie, Nicole, Katie and husband Chris, Nathan and wife Ashley, Conrad, Kyle, Sasha, Jesse, Samantha, Lillian and Dominic Hart; 10 great-grandchildren and a special niece and nephew.
At the request of Richard there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
