Anita P. Lapointe

HALLOWELL – Anita P. Lapointe, 98, formerly of Augusta, died on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness. She was born on June 4, 1924 in Augusta, the daughter of Elizee and Pauline (Gilbert) Beaudoin.

Anita was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Saint Michael’s Parish a member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons. After completing her education, she worked in the weave room at Bates Edwards Manufacturing Company and later as a CNA at the Augusta Mental Health Institute in Augusta.

On Sept. 6, 1948, she married Roland J. Lapointe at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta. In the years that followed, Anita raised her family in Augusta but eventually took up residence at her beloved home on Three Mile Pond in Vassalboro. There she could enjoy frequent visits from her friends, children and grandchildren. Late in 2017, Anita and husband Roland moved to Granite Hill Estates in Hallowell where they spent their remaining years. Anita dedicated her life to her family and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed by many and remembered for her generosity, sharp wit and quick smile.

Anita was predeceased by her husband, Roland Lapointe, two daughters, Nancy Tarr and Joan Lapointe; and seven brothers: Philip, Roland, Robert, Omer, Alfred, Gerard and Emile.

Surviving are her two sons: Roland Lapointe of Vassalboro, and Paul Lapointe of Winthrop, one daughter: Louise Roberge of Monmouth, one sister, Theresa Spears of Fayette and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. A private burial will be scheduled at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

The family wishes to thank the management and staff at Granite Hill Estates and Beacon Hospice for the compassion provided to Anita during her time in their care.
