Arthur S. Gould
CORNVILLE – Arthur S. Gould, 76, passed away on Jan. 23, 2023 at Togus VA Hospital in Augusta.
Arthur was born in Farmington to Raymond and Lois Gould. He grew up in Kingfield and Skowhegan.
After graduating high school, Arthur joined the Army. It was while he was stationed in Alaska he met his future wife, Marita Sperry. They married in 1968. After his time in the Army was over Arthur & Marita moved to Cornville. It was there that they raised their three kids, Stephen, Tracy and Michael.
He and his brother, Carroll, started their logging business AS & CB Gould & Sons, Inc in 1969. After a long, well respected career in the logging industry, Arthur “retired”. After “retirement” you could find Arthur at Rusty Farrins Auction and the Fairfield Antique Mall.
He is survived by his wife, Marita; son, Stephen (Stacie), daughter, Tracy (Brian) and son, Michael (Vicki); grandchildren Kylie, Caitlin, Nathan, Emma, Eli, Anna and Caroline; great-grandsons Dak and Bodi; his brother, Carroll and sisters Melony and Holly.
Our father was a giver, almost to fault. He always wanted to make sure you had what you needed or didn’t need. We all received calls from him asking if we needed a pair of snowshoes, a knife, Fiestaware or a Hall teapot. That was the antiques guy in him.
There will be an informal memorial at the garage in Cornville during mud season. Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Rd., Skowhegan.
In lieu of flowers, please do a kind gesture for someone in memory of Arthur.
