Virgil Thomas White

ATHENS – Virgil Thomas White, 33, passed away on Dec. 5, 2022.

Virgil was born on Sept. 15, 1989 to John and Paula White in Skowhegan. A twin, and the fifth child of eight, Virgil spent his childhood with his parents and siblings in Athens.

A beautiful child, Virgil shined with promise and potential. He was bright, charming, energetic, and funny. An excellent young athlete, friends and family remember him as a talented baseball player and skateboarder.

It seemed he excelled at whatever he tried, and music, his true passion, was no exception. He learned to play guitar and drums at a young age, and with determination and practice, he honed his musical skills and developed a beautiful singing voice. As a teenager he collaborated with friends on many projects, forming bands and performing local shows. A self-taught, prolific musician, he went on to compose and record original songs, evolving his craft and experimenting with rock, acoustic, and electronic music. Through his music, Virgil touched many lives.

Virgil graduated from Madison Area Memorial High School in 2007. In his 20s he served a mission as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Virgil possessed a great skill for craftsmanship, learning as an apprentice in the construction trade.

Virgil was loved by many. Family and close friends remember him as intelligent, talented, and insightful. He will be missed beyond measure.

Virgil is survived by his son, Ezra Drezak; his father and mother, John and Paula White; his brothers Horatio White and Gideon White, his sisters Evangeline White, Gwendolyn White, Jacqueline White, Pearl White, and Violet White.

A memorial for Virgil will be held on Feb. 4 at the LDS Meetinghouse at 233 Malbons Mills Rd., Skowhegan at 1 p.m.
