The Central Maine Square Dance Club of Waterville, in conjunction with the Mid Maine Regional Adult Community Education (Waterville Adult Education), plans to offer a social square dance program.
The program will run 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 12 weeks. The classes run from Tuesday, Feb. 7, to Tuesday, May 9.
The 12 lessons cost $60 per person. Classes will be held at the George Mitchell School on Drummond Avenue in Waterville.
Organizers are looking for anyone who’s never tried it before or maybe danced a few years ago and would like to get back into it. The classes will start with the basics and go from there. All that is needed is two hours a week of ones time and commitment to show up, be able to walk and hear, and listen and follow directions, according to a news release from instructor Bob Brown.
Participants should wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes like sneakers, and bring their partner, significant other, a friend or a group of friends. Singles and families are welcome.
For more information, contact Waterville Adult Ed at 207-873-5754, or Brown at 207-447-0094 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
