Western Maine Community Action in East Wilton has received additional funding for heating assistance.
This is an important but time-limited resource outside of LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), so residents are encouraged to utilize it while it is available, according to a news release from the Farmington-based Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.
The funding is meant for households over the income limit for LIHEAP, but still under 300 percent of poverty.
If eligibility requirements are met, a purchase order will be sent to the vendor with a credit to the account.
To apply, call Western Maine Community Action at 207-645-3764; the entire application is done over the phone.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
