Kevin Johnson

AUGUSTA – Kevin F. Johnson of Augusta died unexpectedly at home of an apparent heart attack Feb. 24, 2023. He was born in Augusta March 27, 1979, to Frank A. and Jeannie S. Johnson.

Kevin graduated from Cony High School. After attending St. Anselm College for one year he graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in political science. After graduating from USM Kevin moved to Maryland and worked as a legal researcher for the Washington, D.C., firm of Crowell and Moring. Upon returning to Maine Kevin worked for Drummond and Drummond, the Maine Ethics Commission and the Office of the Attorney General.

Kevin was an active participant in local youth baseball and basketball programs. He had fond memories of three trips to the Baseball Hall of Fame and a Notre Dame home game with his father. Kevin was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Notre Dame football.

Kevin had a deep ecumenical faith that he practiced daily as a genuinely loving, kind, gentle, hopeful, generous, caring and compassionate man. He was respectful of all living beings. He was devoted to his family and was a beloved uncle to his niece and nephews. He treasured the family’s annual summer vacations on Islesboro. Kevin was passionate about animals and acquired considerable knowledge of local birds. To his niece and nephews he also was known to be nuts about squirrels.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Frank W. and Louise Johnson of Augusta, Ernest and Kathleen Steward of Manchester, his uncle Peter Johnson of Augusta, and his uncle Ronnie Bechard of Hallowell.

Kevin is survived by his parents Frank and Jeannie Johnson of Augusta, sisters Amy and her husband Brian Oliver of Belgrade, Tracie and her husband Chip Gora of Buxton, and Holly and her husband Ryan McCarthy of Wayne, his niece Olivia Blanchard of Gray, and nephews Noah Oliver of Belgrade and Jack Gora of Buxton. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kevin will be remembered as a sweet, thoughtful soul who will be greatly missed by all those who loved him dearly.

There will be public visiting hours on Friday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home.
