Jean (Davidson) Stevens
BELGRADE – Jean (Davidson) Stevens, 95, formerly of Belgrade, passed away on March 2, 2023 at Russell Park Manor. Jean was born in Gardiner on June 30, 1927 to Frederick and Caroline (Babb) Davidson.
Jean graduated from Gardiner High School in 1948. Summers were spent at her camp on Webber Pond where she hosted gatherings for family and extended family. Every weekend during the summer months her nieces and nephews fondly remember their overnights spent at camp with Aunt Jean.
Jean worked at Gardiner Shoe for many years until it closed the factory in Gardiner. She then went to work for the State of Maine, Bureau of Public Improvements where she met Ralph Stevens. She married Ralph on Oct. 12, 1973 and they moved to Belgrade. Jean’s hobbies included gardening, word search puzzles and reading.
Ralph and Jean spent many summer vacations camping in the Allagash. After retiring from the State of Maine in 1987, Ralph and Jean traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada with Maine Line Tours.
Jean moved to the Woodlands Assisted Living of Hallowell in 2017 where she resided until the most recent decline in her health.
Along with her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by her brothers Frederick Davidson and George Davidson. She was also predeceased by sisters-in-law Charlotte Davidson and Jeanette (Pat) Davidson, and her niece Laurie Merry.
She is survived by her brother Norman Davidson, Sr. of Hallowell; her nephews Norman Davidson, Jr. and wife Debbie of Randolph, Don Davidson and partner Pam Perkins of West Gardiner, Michael Davidson and wife Kathy of Manchester, nieces Carol Trott and husband Tyler of West Gardiner, Marjorie Prosser and husband Gordon of Randolph, Sharon Davidson of Oakland and Barbara Davidson of East Pittston. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Albin and husband Ed of Oakland.
At Jean’s request there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Arrangements are in the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland.
