Mary Burr of Mercer plans to talk about her new work on display at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Norridgewock Public Library, 40 Mercer Road.

“This current body of work is the result of a recent trip to Italy, in particular the Provinces of Marche and Umbria. I created a daily pictorial diary drawn or painted in ‘plein air,’ and completed on site or at the end of a day. The medium in this body of work is a combination of ink and watercolors,” Burr said in a news release from the library.
“Included in this presentation are two recent oil paintings which are representational of my interest in cubism. ‘Mountains and Rivers at Sunset’ is a contemporary landscape and ‘Vortex,’ a play on geometric shapes within a cubist style,” she added.
Her collection will be open for viewing from March 18 to Thursday, May 17, during library hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
