GARDINER – Christopher Carl Sargent, 77, of Gardiner, Maine died in Englewood, Florida after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Jan. 22, 2023 .
Mr. Sargent was born on Dec. 13, 1945, in Gardiner to Parents Ralph Carl Sargent and Phyllis Wentworth Sargent.
He was a veteran American soldier and took pride in having served his country with honor and distinction. He was a member of the American Legion, the Moose lodge, the Elks club, and the VFW.
Chris enjoyed his life outdoors with camping, fishing, four-wheeling, and traveling around these great United States with his wife of 42 years, Andrea LeClair Sargent.
Chris was a 35-year shipbuilder at Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine, having worked in many roles over his career. He was a carpenter, a carpenter shop supervisor, an insulator, a labor cost controller, and a planner for the tin shop, before retiring in 2012.
Chris was predeceased by his wife Andrea, his sister Donna Sargent Greenleaf, his father, mother, uncle, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Carl Sargent Jr., 50 of Essex Junction, Vt., Mark Reese Sargent, 55, of Somersworth, N.H., two stepdaughters Tammy Blanchard, 59, of Augusta, Tina Blanchard, 57, of Readfield, and two brothers Larry Sargent of Poland, Steve Sargent of Augusta as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Christopher will eternally rest with his wife at the Veterans memorial cemetery off Civic Center Drive, in Augusta, Maine. An internment ceremony will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 9 a.m., at the cemetery. All are encouraged to attend.
