Rosanne Craig Benner

HALLOWELL – Rosanne Craig Benner, 80, passed away after a long illness on March 6, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife to Warren Benner, with whom she shared 58 years.

Rosanne was born on Jan. 5, 1943, to the late Vincent and Thelma (Thomas) Craig. She graduated from Bangor Highschool in 1961, where she then went on to the Eastern Maine College of Nursing to receive her registered nursing certificate.

She worked at Togus Veterans Administration as a Registered Nurse for 25 plus years. Rosanne happily retired from the Togus VA in 2007. Prior to that, she worked as a nursing home administrator for over 20 years.

Rosanne was the head deacon of Manchester Community Church and, before that, an active member of Old South Congregational Church in Hallowell.

In her free time, Rosanne loved spending time with her grandchildren, going on drives to the coast to visit Boothbay Harbor, and eating at her favorite restaurant – the Sedgely Place. She also loved and was known for her creative baking abilities.

In addition to her husband, Rosanne is survived by her four children, Matthew Benner of Washington State; Melissa Benner and her spouse Donna Lizotte of Green; David Benner and wife Hilary of Augusta; Chris Benner and wife Dani of Marietta, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gabriel, Joshua, Hannah, Isaiah, Shelby, Preston, Pearson, and Piper; her three sisters Eva (Craig) McKinnon, Marion Craig, and Lynne Craig; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Rosanne is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Harley and Manford.

A memorial service to honor Rosanne’s life will take place at the Manchester Community Church, 21 Readfield Road, Manchester, on March 18, at 1 p.m., Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
