A man from South Bristol was killed late Monday night in a single car crash near Wood Duck Lane in South Bristol.

Lt. Brendon W. Kane in a release identified the victim as 64-year-old Kenneth D. Chasse. He was operating a 2007 Saturn on Route 129 when the car left the road and struck a tree.

An off-duty firefighter came across the crash around 9:15 p.m. and reported it to first responders. Chasse died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, but the vehicle’s airbags did deploy.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to Kane.
