JAY — A vehicle seen fleeing the scene of a robbery Tuesday night at the Label Shopper at Jay Plaza Lane was likely the same vehicle involved in a rollover crash near 1038 Main St. in North Jay minutes later, local police said.
Police were responding to reports of a robbery at the Label Shopper shortly before 8 p.m. when they were alerted to a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the robbery driving north on Route 4, police said.
Minutes later, the vehicle crashed and rolled over outside the fire station, police Chief Richard Caton IV said.
One person was ejected from the vehicle and another one partially ejected, Caton said. LifeFlight of Maine was requested.
“We’re still trying to figure things out and get people on scene,” he said.
Asked if the robbery at Label Shopper and crash were connected, Caton said, “at this point I think so.”
Wilton police were requested to help close a section of Route 4.
