Maine’s Public Utilities Commission wants to hear from Mainers regarding current Central Maine Power rate cases.
All Maine consumers deserve utility service that meets their daily needs at a reasonable price. With inflation continuing to force Mainers to make tougher decisions about paying for necessary household expenses, pushing for policies that will help older ratepayers on fixed incomes is a priority for AARP Maine, according to a news release from Jane Margesson, AARP Maine communications director.
Most Mainers cannot afford a utility rate hike right now, Margesson noted.
The Maine PUC plans to hold local public witness hearings regarding the CMP rate cases. At these meetings, residents are invited to voice concerns and ask questions.
The first will be held Tuesday, April 4, at 6 p.m. at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St. in Lewiston.
The second will be held Thursday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at the Maine Public Utilities Commission, 26 Katherine Drive in Hallowell. A remote participation option is available.
Those who would like to attend the April 6 public witness hearing virtually must register in advance by contacting the commission at [email protected] or 207-287-3831 and providing an email address no later than 4 p.m. Monday, April 3.
