SKOWHEGAN – John Burns, 78, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023, at the Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan with his family by his side.

He was born April 19, 1944, in North Anson, the son of Harry. A Burns and Mildred I. (Pomelow) Burns.

He was educated in Maryland and in Madison.

John enjoyed family, fishing, his dog, and spending time with his friend, Vern.

John is survived by his long time partner, Carolyn Lord of Skowhegan; brother, Larry Burns of Athens, sister, Ruth (Burns) Desjardins and husband David of Port Orange, Fla., sister, Barbara (Burns) Hight of Oakland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Mildred Burns; two sisters, Lucy Allen and Florence Anderson, sister-in-law, Becky Burns, and two brothers-in-law, Russell Allen and Vernal Hight Jr.

Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Service, Skowhegan.
