Todd Alan Wacome

CORNVILLE – Todd Alan Wacome passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 at the age of 59, with his wife and daughter by his side, in their family home after a brave fight against Pancreatic Cancer.

Todd was born Sept. 8, 1963, the son of Howard Wacome and Karleen (Davis) Collins. He grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison Area Memorial High School in 1981. A hardworking man, Todd began working at an early age taking on two newspaper delivery routes on his bike. After high school he worked on construction and then for several years he owned his own carpentry business. For the last 30 years, Todd worked for RTD Enterprises as a construction estimator.

Todd and Julie married in August 1987 and built their first home in Madison where they raised their daughter Kaylee. Summers were spent at camp, where he could be found working on the camp and enjoying time with family by the water. It was a lifelong dream of his to own a farmhouse that he could putter on, and land that he could explore. His dream came true in 2006 when they moved to “the farm” in Cornville, where Todd enjoyed being outdoors, clearing trails with his tractor and tapping maple trees.

Todd was a devoted husband and father and loved nothing more than spending time with family, from working on school projects and eventually home projects with his daughter, to traveling the world and experiencing new places with them. He loved exploring nature, whether that meant harvesting Chaga in the woods, hiking his favorite trails, mountain biking with his buddies, or simply taking walks with the dogs.

Todd was an extraordinary artist. If you gave him a crayon, paint brush, or pencil it was likely there would be a cartoon figure for his daughter and wife, or a large mural on an unprimed wall he was repainting. He was also an excellent cook and had several signature dishes that one came to expect from him, like his famous Christmas Dynamites. He took pride in his woodworking, making several pieces of furniture that his family cherishes dearly.

Todd was predeceased by his father Howard Wacome and stepmother Delina “Chubby”; his mother Karleen Collins and stepfather Gary; his sister Debbie Knight; and father-in-law Lawrence “Buddy” Goodwin.

Todd’s life story will be continued by his wife and best friend of 35 years Julie (Goodwin) Wacome; daughter Kaylee (Wacome) MacDonald, son-in-law Lawrence MacDonald; mother-in-law Evelyn (Dickinson) Goodwin; sister, Glenda Knowlan and husband Butch, brothers, Kevin Wacome and wife Sharon, and Chad Wacome; in-laws, Larry Goodwin and wife Betty Jo, Rick Goodwin and partner Libby Marston, Andrea Enright and husband Shawn; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many wonderful friends.

The family would like to recognize the staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital, MaineGeneral Hospital, and MaineGeneral Hospice for their compassion, care, and support. They would also like to extend a special thanks to the Oncology Dept. for their extraordinary care throughout this difficult journey.

A celebration of life for Todd’s family and friends will be held April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church, 13 Island Ave., Skowhegan with a reception to follow at the church’s fellowship hall.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home.
