Mildred J. Stevens

GALENA, Ohio – Mildred J. Stevens, 96, of Galena, Ohio and Belgrade, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Mildred was born May 3, 1926 in Danville, to Roscoe and Hazel (Bailey) Bickford. She graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn. She was introduced to her beloved husband, Ormand T. Stevens Jr. by her parents, (they had met Steve up north on a fishing trip).

Mildred was a homemaker who cooked, sewed all of her children’s clothes (Mildred made the wedding dresses for each of her four daughters), worked in the garden and canned vegetables. She also enjoyed reading and knitting.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Ormand T. Stevens Jr.; and their only son, Patrick Scott Stevens.

She will be missed by her daughters Donna (Bill), Paula (Richard), Linda (Duane), and Bonnie (Rick); grandchildren Marc (Lauren), Matt (Brooke), Jennifer (John), Rick (Brynne), Shannon (Matt), Ben, Davin (Megan), Justin, Katie (Rob), Tim (Nicole), Michaela, Emily, and Jackson. Mildred is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Retha Libby and Alberta Stevens.

The family wishes to thank Tranquility Hospice, especially Kate Ralph and Tasha for care and kindness they offered our Mom.

The funeral will be at St. John Neumann, Sunbury, Ohio on Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m. and a memorial mass will be held in Maine at a the later time.
