The town of Manchester’s annual roadside litter pick up is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, starting at 9 a.m. at the town office, 12 Readfield Road.
The event is sponsored by the Manchester Conservation Commission. Residents and civic groups are encouraged to participate.
“The Manchester roadside cleanup has been an annual event for more than 20 years. Manchester residents are encouraged to celebrate Earth Day by joining with their neighbors to pick up accumulated litter,” said Jeff Janell, conservation commission chair, according to a news release from the commission.
“Picking up roadside trash is not just an aesthetic issue. Removing roadside litter from the environment helps to keep plastics, metals and other contaminants out of our fields and waterways,” Janell added.
The event will be held rain or shine. Participants will be signed in, assigned a street, and provided bags and equipment. Commission members will pick up the bags for disposal.
Residents also have the option of picking up their neighborhood streets independently the week prior to April 29.
For pick up and more information, call the Manchester Conservation Commission through the town office at 207-622-1894.
