RANDOLPH – Jacqueline Denise (Gilbert) Magenta passed away on April 19, 2023, at the age of 61. “Jackie” passed after years of battling chronic medical issues. She was a strong fighter much of her life, but now we find comfort in knowing she is free from the pain of this life and is in eternal peace.

Jackie was born in Augusta and attended Saint Augustine and Cony High Schools. She later took accounting and business classes to further her education. Jackie worked for many years for the State of Maine at the Department of Environmental Protection. In later years, she held numerous jobs that allowed her to dabble in using some of her creative design and artistic talents.

Jackie had a free-spirited soul with very unique tastes, talents, passions, and preferences all experienced by those around her. Her greatest pleasure and joy was her son Jacob, who, always near her, will likely always feel the closeness of being under her wing. She enjoyed sharing her incredible creative and artistic talent with those she loved. Most notable were her hand created gifts, each made with beautifully creative artistry and finished with great attention and her unique flare given to wrapping each one. She also enjoyed one-to-one time working with a niece or nephew on a special art form in hopes that some of her raw talent might translate to them. She enjoyed nature and capturing it in photography and in art. One of her favorite places was the ocean where she found solace and beauty. She often enjoyed day trips there with her son or other family members wading through the waves or picking sea glass. She enjoyed rock music all her life and was a hard-core Rolling Stones fan. Jackie loved traveling, especially to tropical places, often showing her independent nature by going solo.

Jackie is survived by her beloved son, Jacob Gilbert of Hallowell; and her cherished cat, Sarah Smile. She is also survived by her ex-husband and long-term friend, Kevin Riley; four brothers, Michael Gilbert and wife Denise of South China, Jeffrey Gilbert of Augusta, Raphael Gilbert and wife Joyce of Chelsea, Joel Gilbert and wife Jane of Farmingdale, and one sister, Diane Libby-Gilbert and husband Peter of Sidney. She is also survived by two aunts, Sylvia Douin and husband Dominique, and Patricia Fortin, both of Augusta, and an uncle, Robert LaPierre of Florida; as well as many adoring nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces; and friends, including Mike Blake and her lifelong friend, Linda Harvey.

All family and friends are welcome to join us to share some meaningful time together to celebrate Jackie’s life and the impact she has had on all those who knew her, on Sunday May 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, Route 17, in Augusta.
