Kathleen Bonenfant Staples

WINTHROP – Kathleen Bonenfant Staples, 70, died May 17, 2023, after a long illness.

She was born in Augusta, May 15, 1953, the daughter of Doris and Paul Brennan. She attended St. Augustine School and Cony High School.

Kate was kind and loving soul who deeply loved her family and all of her “animals.” As a young child, she found a way to make her pets — and there were many — feel comfortable, fed and happy. Her dog and cats brought her smiles daily. If she wasn’t caring for family and pets, she would tend her flowers. She liked to laugh and to make others laugh. And despite uncomfortable and miserable days, she always put others first.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Michael and Shawn Brennan. Survivors include her loving husband Fred of Winthrop, who cuddled and cared for her until the end; children Derek Bonenfant of Winthrop, Jayson Bonenfant and wife Alison of Fairport, New York, and daughter Cristina Rouse of Winthrop; grandchildren Gabriel and wife Lauryn, Corbin, Jaxson and Madison; sister Patty Ammons and husband Danny of Augusta; brother Stephen Brennan and wife Sheila of Augusta; brother Tim Brennan of Alabama; sisters-in-law Sue Brennan of Manchester and Cynthia Brennan of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen’s visiting hours are scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at St. Francis Xavier Church at 20 Lake St. in Winthrop. Interment will be in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Augusta
