AUGUSTA — Kennebec Valley Tourism Council has awarded $2,500 in sponsorship support funds to the Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway Board of Directors for the Map/Visitor Guide Project.
This funding aims to assist in the growth of tourism in Maine’s Kennebec Valley and produce a positive economic impact on the region.
Old Canada Road was one of eight sponsorship recipients awarded as part of the 2023 KVTC marketing partnership program.
The 2023 KVTC sponsorship support application requests totaled nearly $19,485. The organization was able to fully fund the regional sponsorship requests.
KVTC awards local organizations that are helping KVTC promote Maine’s Kennebec Valley Region as a destination place with their own marketing initiatives, according to a news release from the council.
“We’re very excited to have the support of KVTC as we work to bring our Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway map to fruition. We can’t wait to distribute the map, which will help others learn more about the area along the Byway and to start planning their visit,” said Bob Haynes, project coordinator for Old Canada Road.
