George Whitney Lee

MANCHESTER – George Whitney Lee, 78, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, with his wife, Gail, by his side.

He was born in Stamford, Conn. on April 19, 1945, the son of Herbert and Grace (Parker) Lee.

He grew up in Stamford, Conn. and lived much of his life there, until he and Gail moved to Maine in 1996. George was employed with RCA before venturing out and starting his own appliance repair business, where he worked for 20 years until his retirement.

George and Gail were very active members of the Winthrop United Methodist Church in Winthrop. George loved the outdoors and going up to their family camp near Brownville on Ebeemee Lake, where he, his family and his brothers-in-law would go boating and snowmobiling, among other activities. He was also an avid golfer.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Roberta Jane Lee, and brothers-in-law Russell Porter Jr., Dale Porter, and Michael Renzulli.

George is survived by his wife, Gail; sons Andrew Lee of Pittsfield, Mass., and Benjamin Lee (Debra) of Boylston, Mass., stepsons Richard Vujs of Waterbury, Conn., Russell Vujs of Dennis Port, Mass. and James Vujs (Michele) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons Russell Vujs Jr., Peter Vujs, Nathaniel Vujs and Porter Vujs, granddaughter, Brooke Owens; and sisters-in-law Dorothy Newhouse (Bob), Norma Renzulli and Dawn Porter.

Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial celebration of George’s life at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the Winthrop United Methodist Church, Main Street, Winthrop.
