Maurice “Moe” Donald Joseph Corbin
SUN CITY, Ariz. – Maurice “Moe” Donald Joseph Corbin, of Sun City, Ariz., (Winslow, Maine) passed away on June 26, 2023, after 86 years of celebrating life with his family and friends.
Moe was born on Dec. 31, 1936 in Grand Isle, the son of Claude and Germaine (Doucette) Corbin. Moe proudly served his country in the Army (July 22, 1955- June 26, 1958) working in Nice, France for much of his time.
Moe started his career as a barber and then worked many years for Keyes Fibre Company in Waterville. He served as an umpire and referee for high school and collegiate men’s and women’s hockey, baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse. Moe was one of the first six collegiate lacrosse referees in Maine.
Moe is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Nancy Carolyn (Violette); and two sons, Dr. Brian Roland and his wife Dr. Donna DeBlasio, and Michael Claude and his wife Andrea (Morissette). Moe proudly claimed that he trained both of his sons and all his surviving grandchildren — Hannah St Pierre (Tony), Seth Michael (Nicole DiSalvo), Paige Diane (Alex Wolvos), and Ross Brian — on how to pass a driver’s test. Moe loved his AFS adopted son, Federico Mestre, his wife Begonia Larrea, and their two daughters, Ikerne and Arantza, all from Mexico City, Mexico. His brother Jerry and wife Jan of Winslow, along with many other in-laws, nieces and nephews still live in Maine and many other parts of the USA.
Moe was predeceased by his parents; and brothers Fernand and Roger.
Moe’s family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and staff at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, Ariz. for their compassion, efforts, care, and kindness throughout his short battle at the end.
Maurice will be interred with military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix in mid-August.
