Michael Edward Gallagher Sr.

LITCHFIELD – It is with great affection and a touch of humor that we remember the life of Michael Edward Gallagher, Sr., “Mickey” born on July 2, 1965, in New London, Conn., who passed away on June 21, 2023. As the saying goes, “laughter is the best medicine,” and Mickey was always ready to share a healthy dose of it. With his compassionate nature, he brought warmth and joy to everyone around him, and his charismatic personality made him a true friend to many.

A self-employed carpenter in Litchfield, Mickey was not only smart but also incredibly talented with his hands. His love for carpentry went beyond work; it was an art form that allowed him to create beautiful memories for his family and friends. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” and Mickey truly embodied this spirit. A loving father and lifelong partner of 26 years, he was happiest when spending time with his family. His children, Brooke and Michael Jr., were the center of his universe, and his domestic partner, Crystal Huff, held a special place in his heart. He’s a proud “poppy” to his grandson, Mason G.

Mickey was a devoted son to Marcella Gallagher, who survived him, and the late Lawrence Gallagher. His laughter, wit, and boundless love will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. We remember a funny man who always had a quip or a joke to lighten the mood, a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many, and a charismatic presence that brightened the darkest days.

Rest in peace until we meet again.
