Timothy J. Baird

ST. ALBANS – Timothy J. Baird, 64, of Newport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Monday July 3, 2023 at camp in St. Albans, Maine following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born April 6, 1959, in Hartland, Maine, son of Webster and Lillian Ruth (Watson) Baird.

He attended Hartland Schools and graduated from Nokomis Regional High School in Newport in the class of 1978 and then went on to graduate from Eastern Maine Technical College.

He married Cindy J. Dunivan on October 15, 1983, in Newport, Maine.

Tim began working at Dexter Shoe before getting his Building Construction degree from EMTC which he then used to build our family home. Shortly after, Tim worked for Hardwick Fence, Mike Temple Builders, and Sebco Plumbing before starting Newport Fence Company. Tim and the family enjoyed serving Central Maine businesses and families for over 25 years.

He loved fishing with his family and friends, spending many days up north for ‘Cast and Blast’ chasing 5-pound brook trout. He cherished trips to Katahdin Iron Works, Allagash Waterways, and many other special places. He also loved to spend summers up to camp watching the sunset sitting on the porch listening to the Red Sox on the radio. He cherished time by the fire with his children and grandchildren cooking s’mores and sharing stories.

He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Cindy of Newport, four children: Nathan Baird and his partner Dan Prygrocki of Waterville, Adam Baird and his wife Heidi of Lebanon, Alex Baird and his wife Olivia of Newport, Jenna Baird and her companion Hunter Simpson of Newport, his brother Harold Baird and his companion Tammy of Hartland, his beloved grandchildren Sophia and Milo Baird of Lebanon. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Gail Littlefield and her husband Kerby of Newport, Colleen DeCastro and her husband Harry, Luanne Pelkey and her husband Sol of Palmyra and brother-in-law Jerry Dunivan and his wife Lori of Plymouth and several nieces, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his dad and mom, Webster and Ruth Baird, his mother and father in-law Berl and Shirley Dunivan.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland. A Celebration of his life will follow the graveside service at The Grove, 496 Stetson Rd., Newport, Maine.
