Christopher Michael Bernier
WINTHROP – Christopher Michael Bernier, 55 passed away on July 5, 2023.
He was born Jan. 29, 1968, to Roland and Patricia A. (Ward) Bernier in Augusta.
Chris was known as someone who loved and valued his family. Throughout the years, he was a caregiver to many family members including his ‘Nana’ Gladys, his brother, Todd and his father, Roland. After his father passed away, Chris moved to be closer to his mother and helped care for her needs. She greatly appreciated the time he spent with her.
Chris had challenges in his life but in the months leading up to his death he was studying the Bible and trying to make some positive changes.
Chris worked at JS McCarthy for over 26 years. He was a hard worker and known for his attention to detail.
Chris had the ability to make people laugh by means of his quick wit which contrasted with his sometimes-lengthy stories. He was someone you could always reach out to, and he would be there to support you in any way he could.
Chris’s role as an uncle and cousin brought him great joy. He was a loving son and brother who will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his mother, Patricia; three brothers, Timothy, Shawn and his wife Kimberly, Benjamin and his wife Alexandra; nieces Ashley Bernier, Cassandra and her husband Evan Gay, Sophia Bernier, Jeannie Hollingshead and nephew, Brady Bernier; also, his uncles and aunts Ray Ward and Sherry Parkinson, Barbara and Reed Corson; cousins Jacob Ward, Michele and Mark Corson.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Roger and Dora Fleury Bernier, maternal grandparents Patrick and Gladys Donaghue Ward; his father, Roland; and his brother, Todd.
He also leaves behind many friends including Ted Dodge and Nick Hill.
He appreciated the support and guidance from Zeldon and Maryann Powers and Cathy Bradstreet. He valued and had a special place in his heart for his ‘father and mother’ Ed and Willie Sevon. He also appreciated many coworkers including DJ Everett and David Pritchard.
His mother Patricia finds comfort in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection (Acts 24:15) where she will be reunited with her sons Chris and Todd as well as their father Roland.
Thank you to all those who were there for him. The family plans to have a gathering celebrating Chris’s life in the near future.
Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com
