Norma M. Stevens

MOSCOW – Norma M. Stevens, 86, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

Ms. Stevens was born on Feb. 6, 1937, in Moscow, the daughter of Carroll (Tim) Moore and Jean (Steeves) Moore. After graduating from Bingham High School in 1954, she worked in several banks, law offices, schools, a paper company and the town of Moscow. Norma owned and operated shops of secondhand items, antiques and collectibles. She became a paralegal in 1992. As a Notary Public, she performed many wedding ceremonies. She was a care giver for several of the elderly in the area. She had lived in Boston and Philadelphia in the early 1960s for many years, returning to her homeland which she loved.

She was very active in the community, past and present, being secretary and treasurer for the Bingham Area Health Council, Robinson Memorial Cemetery, Bingham High School Reunion Committee, UKV Ambulance Service, UKV Historical Society, Moscow Water District, Registrar of Voters for Moscow, and President of the Congregational Church Circle. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Quimby School Playground Committee. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, antiques, collectibles and theater.

Norma was predeceased by her parents; brother, Ronald Moore, sister, Vivian Bean and her husband Vernard, as well as her sister, Linda Gero.

She is survived by her beloved son, Parker Stevens and wife Shelly, grandsons Timothy Stevens and his son Colt of Moscow; Seth Stevens and his wife Karen and their sons Walker and Tanner of Moscow; Brady Stevens and his companion Jess Giroux and her son Brady of Bingham; as well as her sister, Ellen Morin of Waterville, her brother-in-law, Elwin Gero of Pittston and brothers Keith Moore of Moscow, and Bruce Moore and wife Deborah of Concord, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norma was a deaconess and member of the First Congregational Church of Bingham, 7 Meadow St., where a Christian funeral will be held on Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m. with pastor Valmore Vigue officiating. Her three nephews and three grandsons will be the pallbearers. Arrangements are by Giberson’s Funeral Home 18 River St. in Bingham where visiting hours will be held on Friday July 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery off Route 201 in Moscow.
