MADISON – Karen Lee McCormack, 76, passed away peacefully at her residence in Madison on July 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with renal disease. Karen was born in Beverly, Mass. Sept. 16, 1946 to Francis K. McCormack and Edna M. Cullen (Wilmot).

Karen married Frank “Wally” Buzzell and they moved to Maine where they raised their family. Karen relocated to Florida and eventually retired from administration at Florida Atlantic University.

Her final years were spent in Maine, surrounded by family, under the care of her daughter.

Karen was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wally; and her daughter, LeAnn Withee (Buzzell); and siblings Wayne and Dana.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Durkee of Madison; grandchildren Brenna Curtis (John), Wyatt Durkee, Maeve Durkee (Logan), Josh Withee (Lindsey), and Courtney Lanham (Logan); seven great-grandchildren; and two on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Laurie Brennan of Beverly, Mass. who was by her side when she passed.

She will be missed dearly by her furry feline friends Meatball and Templeton.

Per her wishes there will be no service.
