Marilyn L. (Goggin) Verhille
RANDOLPH – Marilyn L. (Goggin) Verhille, 87, of Randolph, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
Marilyn was born on April 8, 1936 to Norman and Ruby (Ulmer) Goggin.
She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous family members and friends. Marilyn lived her entire life in Randolph and attended Gardiner High School. She married William “Bill” Verhille in 1951 and together, they raised three children, Gary, Gail and Cathy. Throughout her life, she worked many jobs including Goggins IGA, ran her own daycare, Verhille’s Hardware and Maine Drilling and Blasting.
Marilyn’s passion was her family and her many friends. She was a guiding light in showing the way to Live, Laugh, and Love Life to the very fullest and all who came in touch with her felt it! Never will there be a person that loved every member of our family more than our mother, and our loving Gram! She made each and every one of us feel so special, like we were her favorite and she would tell us that! But, we know she loved us all.
She devoted her life to her three children, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She loved going to all of the kids’ sporting events, birthdays, concerts, graduations, weddings and numerous other family functions. Our Mom/Gram never wanted to miss a thing and always showed her enthusiasm and magnetic draw within our family. Wherever there was family and fun, she was there!!!!! If you asked any of Marilyn’s family or friends to share a story about her, it would always include stories about her humor, kindness, and endless love for all. She was fun and especially loved playing games with her great-grandchildren. We will all miss her!
Marilyn loved spending time at her camp on Sheepscot Lake, and spent parts of her winter in Port Charlotte, Fla. for many years. She traveled with her husband, Bill, and was always on the road to somewhere with her daughter, Gail. But she was always happy to get home to her family. Her final trip will be filled with joy as she goes to be with our sister/mother/Aunt Cathy, our father/Bumper and the rest of our loving family.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, William Verhille; her daughter, Cathy Spurling; her parents Norman and Ruby Goggin; her brother, Ronnie Goggin; in-laws William Verhille and Geraldine Benner; and special aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Leeann Verhille of Palermo, her daughter, Gail Bumpus of Port Charlotte, Fla.; grandchildren Angela Bartlett, Andria Amador (Elvis), Heidi Spurling (Kelly), Ryan Reed (Maureen), Katie Michaud (Christian), Jeff Reed (Christina), Eric Verhille (Alana), Cory Spurling (Brandi), Erin Tinkham (Mark); great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews; and special friends. Her special family/friends (June, Judy, Anne, Chris and Aunt Lorna) were close to her heart and always important people in her life.
We wish to invite our family and friends to a Celebration of Life event that will be held on July 29 at “Our Kamp” on Sheepscot Lake. The address is 66 Goggin’s Point Road in Palermo at 12 p.m. A graveside burial will be decided at a future date.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Gray Birch Rehabilitation with a special thanks to Nurse Andy and Nurse Michelle. We also wish to thank the special doctors who cared for our mother, Dr. Travares, Dr. Shubert and Dr. Nathan. Special gratitude to Beacon Hospice Services for their invaluable help as our mom reached the end of her life.
