Clayton R. Hunt

PITTSFIELD – Clayton R. Hunt, 91, died peacefully on July 29, 2023, in Bangor.

He was born on June 22, 1932, in Thorndike, Maine, the son of the late Bert Hunt and Violet (Fernald) King. He was a hard worker and had been employed for 55 years at Walpole Woodworking in Detroit and was quite the legend.

Clayton’s biggest joy was gardening, he grew the best around! He loved to watch wrestling on Saturday nights and enjoyed going to the yearly fairs to watch the horse pulling shows. He was a devoted father and grandfather and loved being surrounded by children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Marilyn Hunt; three children: Richard Hunt and wife Nancy, Deborah Chute, and Brent Hunt; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; son, Craig Hunt; son-in-law, Don Chute; and three brothers: Alton, Reginald, and Ronald.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
