Elizabeth Mae Squires-Saucier-Allain
NORTHPORT, Fla. – Elizabeth was born on Feb. 16, 1925 in Skowhegan, to mother, Lula Holway Squires and father, Alfred Squires. Elizabeth “Betty” has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She went peacefully with family by her side in North Port, Fla. on July 21, 2023.
Elizabeth graduated from Madison High School in 1943 and went on to Hartford, Conn. during World War II to work for the secret service on plane engines used for the war. She kept those secrets very safe. There she also met her first love, Alberic Saucier, and they moved their lives to Van Buren, married in 1945 and had two boys, Richard and Robert Saucier. In 1949 Alberic passed away and she moved home with the two boys to live with “Daddy” (her father). She worked in Venzciano’s Nursing home for 10 years. After that she worked at Madison Junior High as a secretary before retiring in 1985. In her words, “the best job I ever had.” She was loved and admired by all the staff and students as well, Ms. Betty is a great piece of a lot of people’s memories.
In 1959 she married Henry Allain and they had one son, Brian Allain. She and Henry traveled for 25 years to his Army Reunions, one very special one in Hawaii.
She loved their camp in Embden. She loved to make her famous (and best ever) chocolate chip cookies for the children and later for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasure in her life and they always knew how loved they were. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and was able to celebrate so many milestones with them. The best of the best!
She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and her collection of angels.
She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Lula Squires; her husband Alberic Saucier, her second husband, Henry Allain, one brother, Richard Squires; and her two sons Richard Saucier and Robert Saucier.
She is survived by her son Brian Allain and his wife Lisa of Northport, Fla., her daughter Gail Saucier of Madison; her seven beautiful grandchildren, Robert Saucier and his wife Amanda of Skowhegan, Nicole Edgerly and husband Mike of Madison, Richard (RJ) Saucier and wife Katie of Wilmington, Mass., Hope Boyce and husband Dale of Sidney, Ashley Allain and fiancé Kody Delong of Sarasota, Fla., Alesha Fahrenholz of Northport, Fla., and Joseph Fahrenholz in Germany.
Great Grandchildren, Cortny Withee and husband Derek of Pinellas, Fla., Briar Edgerly and fiancé Megan Arsenault of South Tampa, Fla., Emily Edgerly of Madison, Brayden and Bryson Saucier of Skowhegan, Tyler, Brady and Keegan Saucier of Willimington, Mass., Madeline and Alexis Boyce of Sidney, Henry Fahrenholz of Northport, Fla.; great, great grandchildren, Adalynn and Ayden Withee of Pinellas, Fla.; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins whom she loved so much.
Her family, her “kids”, she was insanely proud of and loved them so hard. Love was her gift. Her grace and giving heart never went unnoticed and she has left and imprint on every person that had the blessing of meeting her.
