Valerie J. Dulac
CHELSEA – Valerie J. Dulac, 74, passed away Aug. 11, 2023, at Woodlands Senior Living in Hallowell with her daughter by her side. She was born in Skowhegan on May 16, 1949, a daughter of George and Patricia (Folsom) Wyman.
Valerie primarily grew up in Bingham, and Skowhegan attending local schools. In 1971, she married Godfrey Dulac, and the two settled in Chelsea, raising their family. For 45 years, Val was proud to operate a successful daycare business out of the family home, V. Dulac’s Daycare. As a result, she became a second mom/Grammy to many families in the community, and cared for multiple generations within the same family.
Some of Val’s favorite family pastimes were spent camping, especially at Beaver Brook in Monmouth. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, Saturday shopping trips with Mimi, and just being with her family. Valerie was an amazing wife and mother. Very devoted to her daughter Kayla. Devoted to all her loved ones. No matter the occasion, Val was always polished wearing a fashionable outfit with her hair and makeup perfected. Above all, she loved taking care of babies and was fulfilled in doing something she loved so much.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Godfrey Dulac Sr.; two sons, Godfrey Dulac Jr. and Dick E. Raymond; and siblings, Carl Wyman, Dale Wyman, Elizabeth “Betty” Wyman, and Donna Yoder, Alton Wyman, Jeffrey Wyman, Kenneth Wyman, Ben Wyman, Clarence Wyman, Harley Wyman, Dorris Cosmore, and Beverly Taylor.
Val is survived by her children, Michelle “Mimi” Lucas and her husband Robert “ Buster” Lucas, Kayla Dulac, Dwayne Raymond and his partner Sheila Cyr, and bonus daughter, Ashley Rowe and her children; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and siblings, Georgette Gordon, Ruth McKenna, Kevin Wyman, George “Junior” Wyman, Felica Brooks, and Cheryl Ross.
A period of visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, August 18, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine 04330. A second period of visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., noon, at the funeral home where a service will beginn at 12 p.m., noon.
