EUSTIS — Maine Woodland Owners plans to offer a free Forest Management Planning Workshop on Friday, Aug. 25, at Roy Woodland from 10 a.m. to noon.
Attendees will meet at the Flagstaff Lake Boat Launch at 25 Norway Lane.
Workshop topics will include pre-commercial thinning in a white pine stand, addressing white pine damaged by weevils, creation of an early successional habitat block for wildlife, plantings and structures for wildlife, according to a news release from Pamela Dorman with the state-wide organization, based in Augusta.
Participants are encouraged to bring lunch to eat at the property after the event concludes; they should bring insect protection measures.
Registration is suggested by contacting Maine Woodland Owners’ Chapter Leader Joe Dembeck at 207-474-9789 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
