The Open Book Players group is set to hold auditions for the first production of its 2023-2024 season, the children’s program “Frantick Frogs and Other Frankly Fractured Folktales.”
The auditions run from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Oak Hill High School, 56 School Road in Wales.

This production is a compilation of folk and fairy tales with satirical and side-splitting twists to otherwise famous plots and will be directed by Lucy Rioux, artistic director of the Open Book Players, according to a news release from Rioux.
There are parts available for any fluent readers in grades two through 12.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at Oak Hill High School. Johnson Hall in Gardiner, the regular residence of Open Book Players, is still closed for renovation and restoration work.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
