Violet A. (McCue) “Vi” Cahill

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Violet A. (McCue) “Vi” Cahill, 87, has gone to heaven peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Lynmore Assisted Living Memory Care facility in Fort Pierce, Fla. with her son Todd and his wife Carrie at her side. She is the loving wife to the late Theren E. “Ted” Cahill who she married on July 8, 1955, in Connecticut, and shared 45 years of marriage.

Vi was born Oct. 3, 1935, in West Seboies, Maine, the daughter of the late Harry G. and Mae (Adams) McCue. Vi grew up in the County, Northern Maine with her sister Theresa “Granny” who took good care of her. She was a graduate of Houlton High School. Violet resided in Monmouth on Cobbossee Lake for many years. In her later years Ted and Vi enjoyed winters in Florida where they built their dream home on a golf course. Shortly after Ted passed in 2000 Vi moved to Florida fulltime spending time with her great family and friends.

After having their two boys, Ted and Vi moved back to Maine to raise the boys and build their well-known Hi-Hat Pancake House in Farmingdale for 25 plus years until their retirement. Ted and Vi devoted their lives to the Hi-Hat providing many jobs for many people including their two boys Kirk and Todd on their granddaughter Melissa. They created lasting friendships with employees and customers.

Violet treasured the time she spent with her family and will always be remembered for her outgoing, upbeat personality and how she was always there if someone needed anything. Vi enjoyed being a mother to the boys and their friends. She was an amazing baker, and gardener. She was a former member of North Monmouth Church. She was also active with the Alzheimer’s Association. Violet also served as a Den mother in the Cub Scouts and volunteered for Sara’s Kitchen and the Port St. Lucie Alzheimer’s support group among others.

Violet is survived by her sons Kirk Cahill of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Todd Cahill and his wife Carrie of Readfield; her grandchildren Melissa Caron and her husband Gabe, Luke Cahill and his fiancé Kelsea Anair, Shelby Cahill and her significant other Spencer Richardson, Carter, Mackenzie, Lexy and Charlie Cahill; her great grandson Blake Caron, her step great grandchildren Kaleb Caron and his wife Barrett, Tyler Caron; and her step great great grandson Beckett Caron. She is also survived by her sisters Theresa Kervin, Julie Folsom and Dawna Post; and many nieces and nephews including Jim, Joe and David Kervin, who were very dear to her.

Violets’ visiting hours will be in the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street Winthrop on Monday, Augusta 28, 2023 from 12 to 1 p.m. Her Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home followed by burial in the East Monmouth Cemetery on Sanborn Road. Immediately following graveside services there will be a Celebration of Violets’ life at Ted’s Trackside Grill 83 Route 133, Winthrop. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
