LIVERMORE FALLS – Michael “Mike” Kinch, 60, of Livermore Falls, passed away on Aug. 20, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1962, to C. William Kinch and Priscilla (Whitaker) Payne in Augusta. Mike was raised in Brewer and Holden, and Bonn, Germany. Determined to make it on his own, Mike left high school to enlist in the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and was stationed in Germany. He later completed his G.E.D.
Early in his working career, he drove truck transporting potatoes from Aroostook County and newspapers in Washington County. Over the years, he earned various trade certifications and worked in asbestos removal, oil burner repair, and masonry. He was most proud of earning his Class A Commercial Driver’s License from the Northeast Driving Academy.
Most recently, he was employed by Sargent’s Corporation as a dump truck driver and during the winters he delivered oil for Fielding’s Oil and Propane. Previously, he worked for Haley’s Inc. for many years driving a cement truck.
He was clever and full to the brim of knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. Mike mastered many skills and trades over the years and enjoyed tackling carpentry and various home repair and renovation projects.
Mike’s work ethic was second to none. He was a committed and hard-working employee who gave 100 percent. Mike had very strong values and did everything with honesty and integrity. He was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart. He will be remembered as generous, loyal, and brave.
Mike’s true passion was his family. He was a proud Grandpa and took every opportunity to share photos or stories about them.
He is survived by three children and their families. They include his sons Sean Kinch (Amanda) of Bangor and Ryan Kinch of Newport, and daughter, Lyndsay Anderson (Michael) of Levant. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Braden, Killian, Jude, Eden, and Baby Lue; and siblings Kathy Kinch (Dave Benham) of Portland, Bill Kinch of Litchfield, Mary Kinch of Dresden, and Ann Pierce (Jeff) of Dresden.
